Material Groups in Detail

1. Full-Grain Leather

Leather is the most common material for dress shoes, leather sneakers, and boots. Key traits: durable, holds its shape, needs regular conditioning.

Cleaning method:

• Remove dust with a soft brush
• Wipe with a leather cleaner (pH-neutral)
• Condition with a suitable leather balm or oil
• Apply a water-repellent protective layer (optional)

Risks if done wrong:

• Soaking: leather swells, stiffens, and cracks as it dries
• Harsh chemicals: fading and loss of natural oils

2. Suede

Suede is extremely sensitive to water. A single soaking can permanently alter its napped texture.

Cleaning method:

• Brush in one direction with a suede brush (brass or nylon)

• Wet stains: blot water immediately, air-dry, then brush
• Apply a suede protector after cleaning

3. Mesh / Knit (Flyknit, Primeknit)

Check the label inside the shoe (usually on the tongue or inner lining). No label? A technician can identify the material by sight and by testing reactions on a hidden spot.

Can I use one solution for every type of shoe?
