How to Clean and Store Biti's Hunter Sneakers the Right Way

Biti's Hunter is Vietnam's everyday sneaker — affordable, versatile, worn almost daily, and it shows the dirt fast. Hunter shoes have fabric uppers and a glued midsole, so how you clean them decides how long they last.
What you need
- A soft-bristle brush (a used toothbrush works) and a stiffer brush for the soles.
- Warm water, a dedicated shoe cleaner or neutral soap.
- Cotton towels, rolls of white paper, and a fan (optional).
Step 1: Brush off dry dirt and remove the laces
Take out the laces and insoles to wash separately. Turn the shoes upside down and tap out the grit inside, then brush all the dry dirt off the upper. This step matters more than you would think: wet mud spreads into the fabric's breathable holes the moment it meets water.
Step 2: Foam-clean zone by zone — do not soak the pair
Plenty of guides tell you to soak the whole pair in a tub of soapy water. Do not: Hunter shoes are glued, and long soaking swells the adhesive, eventually causing sole separation and rotting lining. The safe way:
- Mix warm water with a little neutral soap and work it into foam.
- Dip the soft brush into the foam (not the whole shoe into water) and scrub the upper zone by zone — tongue and midsole edges included.
- Scrub the inside as well to treat the odor and bacteria from sweat.
- Wipe everything down with a well-wrung damp cloth, twice, until all soap residue is gone.
Laces and insoles are hand-washed separately with soap, rinsed clean and dried apart.
Step 3: Soles and midsole
For stubborn grime on the rubber outsole, switch to the stiffer brush with the cleaning solution. Skip toothpaste and lemon: the abrasives in toothpaste scratch the midsole finish, which then attracts dirt faster.
Step 4: Dry the right way
- Turn the shoes upside down to drain, then stuff rolls of white paper inside to absorb moisture and hold the shape (not newspaper — ink can stain).
- Place them in a shaded, ventilated spot; a fan blowing from a distance helps. No direct sunlight, no hair dryer, no heat sources — heat opens glue lines and warps the midsole.
- Replace the paper once after the first few hours. Let the shoes dry fully for 24–48 hours before wearing them again.
Regular storage tips
- After rain or mud, brush the dirt off as soon as you get home — grime left sitting sinks into the weave and becomes very hard to clean.
- No bleach or strong detergents; if the shoes touch chemicals accidentally, rinse right away with clean water and dry as above.
- For long storage: clean them, take the insoles out to dry, stuff with paper and keep them in a breathable bag or box in a cool spot.
