Nike Dunk: Design, Durability, and How to Care for Them

1. Design: The King of Versatility

There's no denying an eternal truth: the Nike Dunk goes with everything. A clean, traditional low-top silhouette with a rounded collar, a wide flat sole, and two bold, contrasting color-blocked leather panels. Whether you're in baggy cargo shorts, skinny jeans, or a pleated skirt, the Nike Dunk fits in 100%. There's never a style clash — which is exactly why it's called the "people's shoe."

2. Leather Quality: A Quiet Disappointment

You pay 3,000,000 VND at retail (or even 6,000,000 VND on the resale market at its peak) for a Panda Dunk, and the brand's leather quality is a painful slap! The standard Dunk line (except the premium SB Dunk) uses synthetic PU-coated leather. It's rough and stiff, and it chafes the top of your foot on first wear. The worst property of the plastic film pressed over this leather is how fast it creases. Just a dozen steps in, the toebox is dented with deep creases you'll never flatten out by hand!

3. Comfort: Thoroughly Average!

If you're used to marshmallow-soft running shoe midsoles like Ultraboost or the air bubble of Air Max, switching to the Dunk you'll hear a firm "clomp clomp." The Dunk uses the traditional solid rubber outsole with a hollow arch core. That means every step is solid and planted — but with zero bouncy, cushioned feedback. Strolling a café-hopping circuit for 2–3 hours taking photos? Absolutely fine. But lace them up for running, jumping, or sustained sport? Your heels will ache right down to the bone.

4. Maintenance: Easy to Clean, Easy to Stain

Synthetic PU leather turns out to be a friendly material when it comes to cleaning! It resists water reasonably well — mud and dirt rinse off with a shot of Jason Markk foam or even cheap dish soap and three swirls of a brush, coming out bright and fresh. HOWEVER, the boundary between the black and white panels — on the tongue, the midsole lines, the lining — is extremely fragile! Scrub the black stitching too hard and swipe the towel carelessly, and the black dye bleeds along the damp seam and stains the pristine white leather.
